Jan 19, 2014

The following is a statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day:

“Half a century ago our nation was changed by the work of civil rights leaders like Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who tirelessly fought for equality in the face of tremendous resistance and adversity.

“But as we recognize Dr. King and his legacy, we must remember that his fight for equality and justice is not over. For many in Wisconsin and across the nation the dream of equality and opportunity still remains out of reach.

“Today, we honor Dr. King’s legacy by continuing to promote equality, justice, and economic opportunity for all.”
