ICYMI: A Thoughtful, Substantial Jobs Plan From Mary Burke

Mar 30, 2014

Last week, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke released her “Invest for Success” jobs plan focused on making Wisconsin a top-ten thriving economy.

In the wake of news that Wisconsin was second in the nation in job losses last month, Burke’s plan to use her private sector experience to turn our state’s economy around is being met with favorable reception.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel editorial board joined a growing chorus of praise for Burke’s plan this weekend, writing “It’s a substantial, serious plan and could be a good starting point for further discussion.”

The Journal Sentinel also compared the 37-page plan to Walker’s abysmal failure on job creation. “Focusing on a popular, growing Wisconsin company is good politics at a time when Walker is having a tough time living up to his central promise: that his policies would help the state’s companies create 250,000 new jobs during his term. Only an estimated 103,400 jobs have been created so far on Walker’s watch, and other metrics are no better at the moment for the Badger state.”
