The following is a statement from Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chairman Mike Tate celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964:
“Today, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act and the struggle many generations endured to receive equal protection under the law.
“We are all eternally grateful for the work and sacrifice of civil rights leaders who made our nation live up to its creed. In that same tradition, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin is committed to moving our state and our nation forward by fighting for the rights of those who are still marginalized and excluded.
“As we reflect today, and prepare to celebrate the anniversary of this great country on July fourth, we recommit our efforts to extending the American promise of freedom and liberty for all to each an every citizen.”
