Walker is in the toughest fight of his political career and pulling out all the stops to desperately energize his extreme base in the final weeks of the campaign.
Tonight, Scott & Tonette Walker will attend the Teen Challenge 2014 Banquet & Auction where controversial activist and Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson is slated to give the keynote address.
The Teen Challenge is a rehabilitation program that has come under fire in the past for its staunch anti-LGBT views and attempts to rehabilitate gays and lesbians.
In the past, Robertson has made offensive comments about minority groups, the LGBT community and women. Walker’s willingness to appear with Robertson – someone who unapologetically supports misogynistic, racist, and homophobic views – demonstrates a pattern of surrounding himself with those who seek to marginalize huge groups of people and then refusing to denounce their disgusting behavior.
“I’m not surprised Scott Walker doesn’t have a problem appearing with someone like Phil Robertson. It’s well documented that Walker has a pattern of surrounding himself with people of Robertson’s ilk without calling out their offensive views,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said on Friday. “Actions speak louder than words, so until Scott Walker abandons his fight to preserve second-class citizenship status for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters, puts an end to the radical Republican War on Women, and fights for social justice for everyone, we have no choice but to judge him by the company he keeps.”
