WisDems Statement on Ron Johnson Voting Against Funding the Government
MADISON, Wis. – In response to Ron Johnson voting against funding the government, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement:
“Ron Johnson’s priority is his self-serving agenda – from refusing to fight for good paying jobs in his hometown to voting to shut the government down, Wisconsinites are tired of paying the price for his political games.”
Additional background on some of Ron Johnson’s most fiscally irresponsible moves:
- Johnson was the deciding vote on the 2017 GOP tax scam bill that will add nearly $2 trillion to the deficit. Johnson withheld his vote until the legislation was changed in a way that benefitted himself and his biggest donors by hundreds of millions of dollars.
- Johnson was a strong supporter of President Trump, who caused government spending to skyrocket, increased the deficit, and increased the national debt by $7.8 trillion while he was president.
- Johnson tried to kill and voted against the US Innovation and Competition Act, which if passed would strengthen supply chains and help bring down rising costs.
