Statement on Federal Judge Striking Down Portion of Republican Power Grab

MADISON — The following is a statement from Democratic Party of Wisconsin chair Martha Laning on news that a federal judge has struck down early-voting restrictions passed by Republicans and signed into law by Scott Walker during December’s lame-duck session.

“We are grateful that democracy and access to the ballot box have been protected today. We can’t forget these provisions that just violated a federal court order were part of a Republican attempt to override the will of the people and undercut Governor Evers’s authority. We will continue to meet Republicans’ attempts to rig the system in their favor and sabotage our democratic processes with strong opposition.”
