"Toxic Tom Tiffany" Announces Bid for Congress
DPW unveils ToxicTomTiffany.com microsite and digital ad buy to highlight Tiffany's record
(MADISON, WI) – Today, as Republican Sen. Tom Tiffany announced his campaign to succeed Rep. Sean Duffy ahead of the anticipated special election for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin unveiled its new website, ToxicTomTiffany.com, and an accompanying digital ad campaign intended to help educate WI-07 voters about Tom Tiffany's toxic legislative history and reinforce the message that volunteers throughout the district are delivering in door-knocking campaigns starting this weekend.
“It's a sad day for the Republican Party when they rally around a candidate as unelectable as someone known as 'Toxic Tom Tiffany,'" said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler. “Toxic Tom Tiffany has a habit of losing elections, letting polluters write legislation to give themselves tax breaks, and slashing health care for seniors. Wisconsin Republicans love gerrymandering, but it's hard to gerrymander your way out of a record like that."
DPW’s new microsite ToxicTomTiffany.com, referencing the nickname Tiffany earned after writing legislation to benefit the mining industry, highlights Tiffany’s record of putting corporate special interests before the health and wellbeing of his constituents. During his time in the state legislature, Tiffany voted to increase the tax burden on the middle-class while giving enormous tax breaks to millionaires and big corporations. He also cut $500 million from seniors’ health care and let bureaucrats in Madison steal funds meant for veterans.
Following news of Duffy’s resignation, DPW also recently announced the hire of a second field organizer in the 7th CD. This addition puts Democrats in a strong position to organize teams and partner with county parties to talk to voters in WI-07 to harness the grassroots energy needed to win the special election.
