Leah Vukmir Stands with ALEC, Opposes Buy American Rules that Support Wisconsin Manufacturers

Tammy Baldwin announces coalition of more than 100 Wisconsin business leaders

MADISON —
As business leaders from across Wisconsin today announce their support for Tammy Baldwin, it’s worth remembering that Republican U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir opposes Buy American rules that support Wisconsin workers and manufacturers by ensuring that federal tax dollars are spent, here, in the U.S.

That’s a big contrast between Vukmir and Tammy. Tammy stands up to powerful special interests to put Wisconsin manufacturers and workers first, supporting their efforts to secure federal government contracts. And Tammy has worked to strengthen and expand expand existing Buy American rules that support more than 10,000 Wisconsin jobs.

But Leah Vukmir says it’s too expensive to support a Made in Wisconsin economy. Vukmir dismisses Buy American rules as “big-labor mandates and giveaways that drive up infrastructure costs for Wisconsin taxpayers.

That’s exactly the kind of answer that you’d expect from Vukmir, who’s spent her 16 years in the state legislature working for powerful corporate special interests that handpicked her to lead their special interest group ALEC.

“After all of the time that Vukmir has spent working for her corporate special interest bosses at ALEC, it’s no surprise that both Vukmir and ALEC say it’s too expensive to support Wisconsin manufacturers and working people,” said Brad Bainum, Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson for the 2018 Senate race.
