Speaking of Health Care… Leah Vukmir Wants to Take Away 30M Americans’ Health Insurance
MADISON — GOP U.S. Senate candidate and state Sen. Leah Vukmir today attended a Wisconsin Health News Newsmaker event to discuss “what’s next for healthcare in the state.”
Here’s what you need to know about Leah Vukmir and health care:
- More than half of Wisconsinites want Congress to fix the Affordable Care Act, with just 27% supporting a total repeal-and-replace plan.
- But Vukmir is running on dangerous Trumpcare plans that: gut protections for people with preexisting conditions, spike premiums and strip care away from 30 million Americans.
- Vukmir also opposes Congress’ proposed bipartisan fix to stabilize health care markets following President Trump’s move to end cost-sharing reduction payments — opposition that a amounts to an endorsement of the Trump sabotage’s 36 percent premium hike on Wisconsinites.
- On top of all of that, Vukmir has also endorsed cuts to Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare — vital programs that millions of Wisconsinites count on.
“The most important thing to know about Leah Vukmir and health care policy is that she supports right-wing GOP plans that would throw people with preexisting conditions under the bus and strip health insurance away from up to 30 million Americans,” said Brad Bainum, Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson for the 2018 Senate race. “Vukmir also support cuts to Wisconsinites’ Medicare and Social Security, and she even backs plans that could put nursing home coverage at risk.”
