Wisconsin Democrats Applaud President Biden and Democrats for Reaching Historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal

MADISON Wis. — Today, President Biden and a bipartisan coalition of U.S. Senators reached an agreement on the details of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal — a once-in-a-generation investment in our country’s infrastructure.

President Biden’s bill builds on Gov. Evers’ historic investments in Wisconsin’s infrastructure. Between 2019 and 2020 alone, there were repairs made to over 1,000 miles of highway and more than 800 bridges have repairs completed or underway.

In response, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Julia Hamelburg released the following statement:

“When President Biden took office, he promised to work across the aisle to deliver for working families, and he is delivering on that promise. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal is a historic investment in our country’s physical and digital infrastructure, and better positions American workers, farmers, and businesses to excel in the 21st century.

“This deal will create nearly two million jobs per year over the course of the decade, make our economy more sustainable, and tackle the climate crisis. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will impact every single neighborhood in Wisconsin, and remind Wisconsin voters how important it is to have leaders like President Biden and Gov. Evers who put them first. If the Senate wants to support working people, they will quickly pass this deal on a bipartisan basis, and continue to support President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda.”
