WisDems, Gov. Evers Mobilize For Abortion Rights at “Defend Choice” Event
MADISON, Wis. – After Governor Evers kicked off an event for a national ‘Defend Choice’ week of action, Wisconsin voters are hearing about how Democrats are mobilizing to fight back against Republicans’ attacks on reproductive health and elect pro-choice Democrats:
Democrats, including Gov. Tony Evers, spoke to voters and media during a pro-abortion rights event in Madison Wednesday.
The event coincided with a national “Defend Choice” week of action, according to a release from the state party.
“We are at a critical time. I have never heard so much anger and concern on any issue,” Evers said. “That’s what happens when overnight you take away — and make every woman in the state of Wisconsin, including all seven of my granddaughters, second-class citizens.”
As part of a national week of action, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers joined other political leaders Wednesday to outline the stakes of the 2022 elections.
The event comes during the national “Defend Choice” week of action. Evers was joined by government officials and Wisconsin voters to discuss how they are fighting for access to safe and legal abortion in Wisconsin following the overturn of Roe v. Wade.
“This is important for the state of Wisconsin,” Evers said. “This is a liberty issue, it’s a freedom issue. Here are Republicans talking about freedom all the time. What is this? It is not freedom.”
