WisDems Welcome Secretary Vilsack to Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. – Today, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack will visit Wisconsin to discuss the Biden administration’s continued support and investments in Wisconsin’s rural communities. In response, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Julia Hamelburg released the following statement:

“From bringing pandemic relief to rural health clinics with the American Rescue Plan to connecting communities through accessible broadband with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Wisconsin is building back better thanks to the Biden-Harris administration. Wisconsinites are excited to welcome Secretary Vilsack and celebrate the many ways this administration is lifting up communities across every zip code in our state – and they won’t soon forget that Wisconsin’s Republican representatives stood in partisan opposition to federal investments in rural communities.”

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will support rural Wisconsin by:

  • Bringing high-speed internet to every Wisconsin zip code
  • Ensuring clean drinking water is a right in every home
  • Fixing and rebuilding rural roads and bridges
  • Building drought, fire, and flood resilience
  • Plugging orphan wells, cleaning up abandoned mines, and remediating idle rural property
  • Building and upgrading rural airports, ports, and waterways
  • Building electric transmission infrastructure in rural communities
