Prior to Donald Trump’s visit to West Allis this evening, Congresswoman Gwen Moore and Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa released the following statements:
Congresswoman Gwen Moore:
“There is a growing consensus that the Russians hacked our election process.
“Given President-elect Trump invited Russian interference in the election during campaign remarks, it seems disingenuous to now doubt intelligence community reports of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. He needs to spend less time at Trump Tower and more time with U.S. intelligence professionals going over his daily intelligence briefing. Ignoring these briefings is a disservice to the American people, even if he does not necessarily like what he hears.
“These are very frightening developments, especially when considered with the fact that President-elect Trump has chosen to nominate a Secretary of State with no foreign policy experience other than his close ties to Vladimir Putin.”
Representative JoCasta Zamarripa:
“Instead of selecting qualified individuals with records of helping everyday Americans get ahead to fill his cabinet, Trump has appointed extremely wealthy individuals who have little to no record of government or civil service. Furthermore, many of them have records that stand in direct opposition of what is best for the American people, including outsourcing jobs, opposing the minimum wage, and representatives of the same banks that ripped off the American people and caused the great recession back in 2008.
“It is clear Trump has no interest in changing the ways things are and is selling out Main Street to keep his corporate friends and wealthy special interests happy. If our new President-elect is truly going to put workers first, he should show it right now, and stand up to House Republicans who have put American jobs and industry in jeopardy.”
