The Deciding Vote: Trump To Campaign For Leah Vukmir As Senate Republicans’ Deciding Vote To Repeal The ACA And Gut Protections For Wisconsinites With Pre-Existing Conditions
“We made an effort to fully repeal and replace ObamaCare and we‘ll continue, with Leah Vukmir in the Senate, we‘ll continue to go back tothat” –Vice President Mike Pence
MADISON — There’s one reason why President Donald Trump is on Wednesday set to campaign for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir, and it’s because Vukmir would be Washington Republicans’ deciding vote in the U.S. Senate to repeal the Affordable Care Act and gut its protections for Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions.
In August, Vice President Mike Pence touted Vukmir as a potential deciding vote for gutting protections for Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions, saying, “We made an effort to fully repeal and replace ObamaCare and we‘ll continue, with Leah Vukmir in the Senate, we‘llcontinue to go back to that.” And just last week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reaffirmed that Republicans indeed intend toagain try to dismantle the Affordable Care should they be successful in November’s elections.
With President Trump coming to Wisconsin to campaign for Vukmir this Wednesday, there’s no question that Trump’s enthusiastic support for Vukmir is grounded in Vukmir‘s support for Trump and Washington Republicans’ plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act and gut protections for Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions.
But don’t take our word for it, here’s Vice President Mike Pence, back in August:
