2024 Democratic National Convention
The 2024 Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago, Illinois on August 19-22, 2024. The convention is a major event in the life of a political party, and convention delegates are at the heart of all decisions made. In addition to voting for the party’s presidential and vice presidential nominees, delegates to the Democratic National Convention have an opportunity to vote on the party’s platform and resolutions, as well as the rules that govern the party. Quick Facts:
- Wisconsin will elect a total of 95 delegates and 7 alternates for the 2024 convention
- There are four different delegate types: District-Level [54 total delegates], Pledged Party Leader and Elected Officials (PLEO) [10 total delegates], At-Large [18 delegates and 7 alternates], and Automatic [13 total delegates].
- In addition, Wisconsin will select 3 members to serve on each of the convention’s three standing committees: Credentials, Platform, and Rules
- In order to run as a delegate, you must be 18 years old on or before November 5, 2024, be a resident of Wisconsin, a U.S. citizen, and be a registered voter in the district in which you are running.
Important Dates:
- February 13th: Statement of candidacy forms are made available on this website and at State Party Headquarters
- April 19th: Statement of candidacy forms are due by 5:00 pm CST for anyone wishing to run as a District-Level delegate
- April 28th: County Caucuses
- May 19th: Congressional District Caucuses
- May 24th: Statement of candidacy forms are due by 5:00 pm CST for anyone wishing to run as a PLEO or At-Large delegate
- June 8th: PLEO and At-Large delegates are selected by the DPW Administrative committee in Milwaukee, WI
- August 19-22: Democratic National Convention in Chicago, IL

Everyone interested in becoming a delegate to the Democratic National Convention must file a declaration of candidacy form.
You can begin applying to be a delegate on February 13, 2024, when declaration of candidacy forms will be made available here.
The deadline to submit a declaration of candidacy form varies based on the type(s) of delegate you are applying for. Please see the deadlines below:
– District level deadline: 5:00 pm CST April 19, 2024
– PLEO deadline: 5:00 pm CST on May 24, 2024
– At-large deadline: 5:00 pm CST on May 24, 2024

The first-tier (County) caucus for selection of district-level delegates will be on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Registration starts at 1:00 pm and the caucuses begin at 2:00 p.m.
