With Enrique Tarrio Sentenced to 22 Years in Prison for Sedition, Will David Clarke Finally Denounce Him?
MADISON, Wis. — This week, far-right Proud Boys leader, convicted seditionist, and David Clarke ally Enrique Tarrio was sentenced to 22 years in prison for his role in the conspiracy to overthrow our democracy at the deadly Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021.
Just weeks before the insurrection, while Donald Trump and his allies were trying to overturn the results of a free and fair election, former Milwaukee County Sheriff and leading GOP Senate recruit David Clarke brought Tarrio onto a MAGA Wisconsin radio show to promote lies and conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, urged the Proud Boys to come to Wisconsin, and held an armed ‘Stop the Steal’ rally with the Proud Boys outside a Wisconsin mall where a shooting had occurred just one day prior.
“As David Clarke gears up to run for Senate, he needs to answer for his ties to convicted seditionist Enrique Tarrio and his role in the attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Maybe at some point in the 22 years Tarrio is sitting behind bars, Clarke will finally denounce him,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Arik Wolk.
