MADISON, Wis. — Today, far-right Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio was convicted of seditious conspiracy for his role in planning and executing the deadly January 6th insurrection. Tarrio is an ally of former Milwaukee County Sheriff and possible U.S. Senate candidate David Clarke.
“Potential Senate candidate David Clarke needs to answer for his ties to Enrique Tarrio and the Proud Boys. He brought these far-right extremists to Wisconsin and promoted their dangerous and radical conspiracy theories,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Arik Wolk.
In the wake of the 2020 election, Clarke hosted Tarrio on a radio show to promote lies and conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, called for the Proud Boys to come to Wisconsin, and held an armed ‘Stop the Steal’ rally with the Proud Boys outside a Wisconsin mall where a shooting had occurred just one day prior.
