WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Editorial Boards Slam Johnson
MADISON, Wis. — From his work that enriched himself and his biggest donors to his refusal to support common sense legislation, editorial boards across the state have been calling out Ron Johnson for months for losing touch with Wisconsin and using his time in DC to push his own agenda at Wisconsin’s expense.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: “A blockbuster scoop by ProPublica on Wednesday makes crystal clear who Ron Johnson represents: He is the senator for the ultra-wealthy. The exposé details how Wisconsin’s Republican senator ensured that his wealthiest donors made out like bandits in the massive 2017 tax bill that GOP leaders marketed as a ‘middle-class tax cut.’ Though he tried to defend himself on Wednesday, Johnson’s secret, closed-door maneuvering on the tax bill is one more reason he’s unfit to represent Wisconsin citizens. The sooner he’s removed from office, the better for our democratic republic.
The Cap Times: “Ron Johnson is not the only con artist in the U.S. Senate. But he stands out as the senator whose grifting costs taxpayers — in Wisconsin and nationwide — the most…Johnson, who was worth around $40 million before the pandemic, has a long record of voting for legislation that benefits the owners of so-called ‘limited-liability’ corporations, like the one he owns with his wife. But as the political outsider became a political careerist, he has expanded his grifting to serve the interests of those who have kept him in office up to this point.”

Yet four weeks ago, he halted a plan to send Americans $1,200 stimulus checks and then voted against a bill providing $600 relief checks because it was “a grotesque level of spending.’…Trust your intuition. Wisconsin’s senator from Oshkosh is unsustainable.”

Ron Johnson, the Republican from Oshkosh who is so wrapped up in conspiracy theorizing that he can’t be bothered to contribute to the work of actually governing, voted no.”
