CLOSING ARGUMENTS: Brad Schimel’s Supporters Make the Case for… Who?

MADISON, Wis. — Support for corrupt politician Brad Schimel is fizzling out in the closing days of the Wisconsin Supreme Court race, with everyone from Ron Johnson to Schimel’s own canvassers drawing a blank when asked who they’re supporting on April 1.

In an interview with Charlie Kirk today, Ron Johnson couldn’t remember Brad Schimel’s name—leaving eight seconds of awkward dead air in the middle of the interview before Kirk jumped in to cover Johnson’s gaffe.Ron Johnson’s embarrassing moment came just hours after reporting revealed that some canvassers paid to get out the vote for Brad Schimel aren’t even supporting Schimel. When asked if she was supporting Brad Schimel on April 1, one Schimel canvasser paid for by Elon Musk put it simply: “Girl, no.” 

“Brad Schimel is a corrupt politician struggling to win over voters because of his abysmal record trying to restrict abortion in Wisconsin, rip away Wisconsinites’ health care, and delaying testing on Wisconsin’s rape kit backlog,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Deputy Communications Director Haley McCoy. “It’s no surprise that enthusiasm for Brad Schimel is waning if Ron Johnson and Elon Musk’s unconvinced canvassers are the best Schimel has to offer.”
