Derrick Van Orden Continues to Abandon WI-03 Vets
MADISON, Wis. — Earlier this month, Derrick Van Orden attended a roundtable discussion with VA Secretary Doug Collins to try to hide behind his record of failing veterans. At the event, Van Orden stood by as Collins attempted to deceive veterans by saying the VA was hiring despite cutting 30,000 VA jobs through DOGE—cuts Van Orden personally called for. That is just the latest in Van Orden’s record of failing to deliver for veterans.
“Derrick Van Orden has spent his time in Congress hiding behind his military service to excuse his pattern of bullying and abandoning veterans,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Rachel La Due. “Time and time again, Van Orden chooses politics over the people he promised he’d fight for.”
Van Orden also failed to secure funding for Klein Hall, a veterans home in his own district, leaving it to shut its doors on the veterans who depended on it for shelter and healthcare. Van Orden has a history of putting service members in harm’s way to please Trump without a second thought: He fully endorses Trump’s illegal war with Iran and when a veteran VA employee spoke out against Trump, Van Orden responded by threatening to report them to DOGE.
