Eric Toney’s Extreme New Endorsement
MADISON, Wis. — Today, GOP Attorney General nominee Eric Toney was endorsed by Susan B. Anthony Pro Life America, which hailed Toney’s “tenacity” and promises to enforce Wisconsin’s draconian 1849 criminal abortion ban.
Here’s what folks across Wisconsin should know about Toney’s extreme new endorsement:
- Susan B. Anthony Pro Life America Is Actively Working To Enact A National Abortion Ban. SBA Pro Life America President Marjorie Sannenfelser has promised the group will work to ban abortion “in every state and in every legislature, including the Congress.” Sannenfelser has also said SBA’s office “erupted with joy” when learning of the Dobbs decision – a ruling that endangered the lives of women in Wisconsin and across the country.
- Susan B. Anthony Pro Life America’s President Has Called Exceptions For Victims Of Rape “Abominable.” SBA Pro Life America President Marjorie Sannenfelser argued in 2015 that an exception for victims of rape included in an abortion ban introduced by Sen. Lindsey Graham was “abominable.” Sannenfelser has also come out in opposition to some forms of birth control, such as IUDs and Plan B.
- Susan B. Anthony Pro Life America Has Pushed For Radical “Personhood” Legislation That Would Jeopardize Access To Some Forms Of Birth Control. So-called “personhood” legislation supported by SBA Pro Life America and far-right extremists such as Tim Michels would not only stop access to safe and legal abortion from being restored but also could imperil acess to fertility treatments such as IVF, as well as emergency contraception methods such as Plan B.
“Eric Toney has proudly campaigned as an anti-abortion extremist eager to enforce Wisconsin’s draconian 1849 abortion ban, blocking victims of rape and incest from obtaining safe and legal abortions,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Marnie O’Malley. “Now, Eric Toney has been endorsed by far-right DC political operatives seeking to ban abortion nationwide. With this endorsement, Eric Toney is making clear he is fully committed to policies that will endanger the lives of women not just in Wisconsin, but across the country.”
