FULL OF SHIT ALERT: After Voting To Remove Veterans Homes Funding From Budget, Wisconsin Republicans Stupidly Blame Evers for Not Providing Funding for Veterans Homes
MADISON, Wis. — Today, a group of Republican legislators, who helped remove funding for two veterans’ homes in Green Bay and Chippewa, sent a letter to Governor Tony Evers blaming him for loss of funding. Governor Evers’ budget proposed $1.9 million in funding to ensure the continued operation of the homes and support for the veterans who live there, which Senate Republicans voted against twice.
“The Republicans are providing a case study for stupidity as they try to shift the blame for removing funding for Veterans homes,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “Gov. Evers and the Democrats did their job in offering funds to keep both homes open, it’s the GOP who decided to send our veterans out into the cold.”
Local Rep. Ben Franklin (AD-88), Rep. Clint Moses (AD-92), Rep. Karen Hurd (AD-69), and Sen. Jesse James (SD-23) all signed the letter, after voting to remove the funding. While their colleague Sen. Eric Wimberger (SD-2) found a modicum of common sense by not signing on, he also voted to remove the funding.
Similarly, 3rd Congressional Rep. Derrick Van Orden has blamed Gov. Evers, all while refusing to call on his Republican colleagues in the legislature to do anything. What’s worse is Van Orden, who sits on the US House Veterans Affairs Committee, has not used his power to even request federal funds for the home in Chippewa.
Van Orden’s colleague, 8th Congressional Representative Tony Wied, has been silent on this issue.
