Eric Hovde Talks Down To Wisconsinites. How Can He Represent Them?

MADISON, Wis.California bank owner Eric Hovde looks down on hard-working Wisconsinites trying to make a living for their families.

Hovde has demeaned single moms, people struggling with their weight, farmers, and the alcohol industry. If Eric Hovde doesn’t even like Wisconsinites, how can he represent them?

See below for California bank owner Eric Hovde’s comments about Wisconsinites:

  • Demeaning single mothers and women: Hovde blamed women and single mothers for society’s ills and said that single parent homes led to a “direct path to a life of poverty.”

  • Cruel healthcare plan: Hovde said that being overweight is a choice and proposed that people with obesity should be forced to pay more for healthcare. He’s also specifically called for repealing the provision of the Affordable Care Act that allows people to stay on their family health plan until age 26.

  • Calling farmers lazy: Hovde insulted farmers, saying they don’t work hard anymore and “largely drive around a tractor”

  • Insulting young people: Eric Hovde said young people and college students lack “work ethic” and are “so stupid.”

  • Saying people lack civic knowledge: Eric Hovde bemoaned Wisconsinites lack of civic knowledge as “deplorable,” blaming women for spending too much time focused on “Hollywood” and men for spending too much time focused on “sports.”

  • Opposing the alcohol industry: Eric Hovde said he opposed the sale of alcohol in a state where the alcohol industry supports 161,000 jobs.
