ICYMI: Eric Hovde Thinks Seniors in Nursing Homes Shouldn’t Be Allowed to Vote

MADISON, Wis. — In case you missed it, California bank owner Eric Hovde announced that he believes senior citizens shouldn’t be allowed to vote if they are living in a nursing home because they “only have five, six months life expectancy.” “Almost nobody in a nursing home is at a point to vote,” he continued. He announced this policy proposal while spouting off disproven conspiracies about the 2020 election.

What else is on Hovde’s list of priorities for our seniors:

  • He would “absolutely” support cutting Social Security benefits.

  • He supports raising the retirement age to as high as 72 years.

  • He praised a GOP budget proposal to cut $205 billion from Medicare, and said he wanted to go even further and bigger with his cuts.

Hovde’s proposal to take away the freedom to vote from seniors in nursing homes is yet another disconnected and disrespectful attack on Wisconsinites from the megamillionaire bank owner.
