ICYMI: “When I Think About Our Troops That Are Serving Our Country Overseas, They’re Not Going To Be Able To Make It Back To The Polling Booth On Election Day To Cast Their Vote”
MADISON, Wis. – Donald Trump has launched his most recent attack on democracy – an attempt to end mail-in ballots and voting machines. WisDems Chair Devin Remiker spoke out about this unlawful attempt to disenfranchise voters, highlighting the negative impacts this would have on our troops.
“I think it can disenfranchise people. It can take away their ability to vote, or at least vote with any semblance of convenience,” said Remiker. “I mean, when I think about our troops that are serving our country overseas, they’re not going to be able to make it back to the polling booth on Election Day to cast their vote.”
Wisconsin Republicans have previously spoken in favor of mail-in ballots, even urging voters to use the method. Rep. Bryan Steil, who most recently said he would work with Trump on this issue, and Rep. Tom Tiffany both previously encouraged the use of mail-in ballots. Tiffany, a reliable Trump ally, has stayed quiet on this issue as he considers a run for governor.
