In Green Bay, GOP House Hopefuls Back Donald Trump’s Big Lie
MADISON, Wis. — As Donald Trump heads to Wisconsin today for the first time since 2022, Republicans eyeing the open seat in the 8th Congressional District Green Bay are no doubt desperate to prove their election-denying bona fides to win Trump’s favor.
“In a world where lying about the 2020 election is the litmus test for job seekers at Trump’s GOP, the Republican politicians running for Congress in northeast Wisconsin have each passed with flying colors,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Haley McCoy. “From spreading false conspiracy theories about election fraud to participating in the effort to overturn the 2020 election, André Jacque, Roger Roth, and Alex Bruesewitz have been all too eager to support Donald Trump’s Big Lie. Northeast Wisconsin deserves a leader who will stand up for democracy rather than give in to Donald Trump.”
The Republicans squaring off in northeast Wisconsin are already jockeying for Donald Trump’s favor:
- André Jacque fully embraced Donald Trump’s claims of a stolen election and urged Mike Pence to overturn the results. Jacque is “more than happy to fight for President Trump” and is closely aligned with his extreme agenda, including banning abortion, restricting access to health care, and making it more difficult to vote.
- Alex Bruesewitz is a “Trump super fan” and “MAGA warrior” who was involved with “Stop the Steal” events as Trump fought to overturn the 2020 election. Bruesewitz has made his allegiance to Donald Trump clear and is best known for attacking Trump’s opponents and critics online.
- Roger Roth has embraced Donald Trump’s election conspiracy theories and claimed that the 2020 election was not “executed faithfully” and suggested the election was “rigged.” Since announcing his campaign for Congress, Roth has wasted no time pandering to Donald Trump, using his announcement itself to officially endorse the presumptive GOP nominee.
