Joint Finance Republicans Continue to Hold Critical Resources Hostage

MADISON, Wis. — In response to Republicans adjourning today’s hearing of the Joint Finance Committee without taking action to release approved funding to stabilize rural hospitals and address drinking water pollution, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Joe Oslund released the following statement:

“Republican politicians on the Joint Finance Committee once again put political games ahead of Wisconsin families today, failing to release approved funding to stabilize rural health care and ensure folks across the state have clean drinking water. Republicans once again gaveled out instead of doing the right thing for Wisconsin’s families, but the days of adjourning without accountability are over—with new, fair maps, Wisconsinites finally have a chance to make their move and end the petty political games we saw unfold today.”

Earlier this week, WisDems launched the No More Games, a statewide accountability campaign backed by a six-figure investment in digital ads running across all platforms. The ads will target swing voters in competitive districts across the state, targeting seven Republican members of the powerful Joint Finance Committee who are playing games with Wisconsinites’ health, safety, and futures, withholding funding for clean wateropioid treatment, and rural health care—among other key priorities. Watch one of the seven digital ads launched yesterday here.
