While Michels Dodges Press, Questions Remain Unanswered
MADISON, Wis. — Tim Michels is continuing to dodge voters and the press for an eighth straight day. No, an invite-only event exclusively with party leaders and members does not count, especially when the gubernatorial candidate refuses to be interviewed.
Michels instead leaves serious questions unanswered.
-
Does Michels stand by his comments defending Donald Trump for allegedly stealing classified documents that could threaten our nation’s security, knowing that they had the legal justification to remove the documents from Trump after many attempts to do so?
-
After attacking law enforcement for doing their jobs, does Michels agree with Mike Pence that Republicans should stop attacking “rank-and-file law enforcement personnel”? Given concerns over a dirty bomb targeting the FBI headquarters and increased threats against their agents following Michels’ and Trump’s outrageous comments attacking law enforcement, Michels must answer whether he stands by his previous comments.
-
Does Michels want Trump to visit Wisconsin again, after Michels was caught scrubbing every mention of Trump’s endorsement from his website?
-
Now that Michels is campaigning with Ron Johnson, does Michels also think that if someone doesn’t like the abortion laws in their state, that they should simply move? Does he support Johnson’s efforts to bring fake electors to Pence and overturn the results of the presidential election in Wisconsin?
Since beginning his campaign, Michels has: said the 1849 ban on abortion that doesn’t include exceptions for rape or incest is “an exact mirror” of his position; confirmed that he supports restricting the rights of LGBTQ+ Wisconsinites; opposed a bipartisan package of gun reforms that included background checks for people under the age of 21 purchasing guns and a provision making it harder for domestic abusers to get guns; called continuing to increase education funding the “definition of insanity”; and refused to answer whether he would certify the 2024 election.
“It seems that Tim Michels isn’t coming out of hiding any time soon — still dodging questions about his radical record,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Hannah Menchhoff. “He may be talking to the ultra-MAGA base at the Republican Party, but he is clearly ignoring Wisconsinites. We are all tired of this game of Where’s Waldo? — Wisconsinites have questions that need to be answered.”
