Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Tiffany “Doesn’t Believe” in Mail-in Voting Despite Voting Absentee Twelve Times
MADISON, Wis. — According to reporting from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Tom Tiffany said in an interview that he doesn’t believe “we should be doing mail-in voting” in Wisconsin despite having voted absentee in 12 elections in the past 10 years. Tiffany’s opposition to making sure that all Wisconsin voters are heard at the ballot box doesn’t stop there—he supported Trump’s 2020 attempt to throw out all absentee ballots in Dane and Milwaukee counties. In fact, Tiffany was the only Wisconsin Republican to sign the Texas suit that would have overturned the 2020 election.
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Governor candidate Tom Tiffany sends mixed signals on mail-in voting

- In a March 12 interview with a conservative news outlet based in northwest Wisconsin, Tiffany said he doesn’t believe “we should be doing mail-in voting” when asked for his thoughts on the practice.
- A spokeswoman for Tiffany told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel the congressman was responding to a practice where all registered voters are automatically sent an absentee ballot, even though the distinction was not mentioned in the question or in Tiffany’s answer and the practice does not exist in Wisconsin.
- Tiffany has voted absentee in a dozen elections over the past 10 years. He did not say whether he voted by returning absentee ballots by mail or by casting an in-person absentee ballot prior to election day, known as early voting.
- Tiffany is the lone major candidate running in the Republican primary for governor. He has the endorsement of President Donald Trump, who has called for ending mail-in voting.
- Following the 2020 presidential election, Trump sought to throw out all absentee ballots cast in the liberal-leaning Dane and Milwaukee counties − a move Tiffany supported at the time.
