Ron Johnson Pushes  Abortion Ballot That Could Ban  Abortions Even in Cases of Rape and Incest

Johnson Has A Record of Supporting Personhood Legislation

MADISON, Wis. – Ron Johnson has taken another step in trying to solidify Wisconsin’s 1849 statute, which bans nearly all abortions even in cases of rape and incest, by putting forward a ballot referendum that would re-codify the archaic law.

“Ron Johnson wants to continue his crusade to ban all abortion in Wisconsin, even in cases of rape and incest. Johnson’s latest effort comes after a long history of him trying to take away the freedoms of Wisconsinites, who will vote him out of office for his dangerous anti-choice agenda,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman.

Additional Background:

Johnson supported a personhood bill that banned all abortions even in cases of rape and incest, and has said that from the moment an egg is fertilized it should be protected.
