VENTING VAN ORDEN: Thousands of Tweets, Angry Letters, Zero Results

MADISON, Wis. — In a month where he tweeted 1,594 times, Wisconsin’s most valiant keyboard warrior, Derrick Van Orden, is back to doing what he does best: sending out angry words but getting no real results for the people of Wisconsin. In his most recent act of political theater, Van Orden sent a strongly worded letter to Gov. Evers demanding he apply for the Rural Health Transformation Program. The catch? Evers had already applied for the program a day earlier. This comes at the same time as Van Orden has created fake outrage towards the city of La Crosse for not allowing the Salvation Army to build off a county parking lot, which the city has no control over.

“Van Orden is too busy spending his time in his MAGA echo chamber on Twitter that he doesn’t understand the issues facing his constituents,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “This letter is an obvious act of political theater meant to cover up the fact that Van Orden is completely out of touch with the very people who sent him to D.C. to represent them.”

And this summer, just before gutting Medicaid and SNAP, Van Orden sent another strongly worded letter to Evers, hours before Evers signed the state budget, demanding that Evers pass the budget to protect Wisconsinites from health care cuts resulting from the Big Ugly Bill Van Orden voted for.
