WI GOP Congressmen and Gubernatorial Candidates Continue to Support Tariff Tax As Costs Rise and Job Numbers Fall
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin’s Republican Congressional delegation and gubernatorial candidates have demonstrated a blind loyalty to Donald Trump since he took office – including supporting his tariff policies that are raising prices on working families. New reports show prices have begun rising as a result of the tariffs, and now Americans are going to foot the bill for everyday goods from tools to toilet paper. What’s more is that the manufacturing resurgence that was promised through these tariffs led to 14,000 manufacturing jobs losses — and that was just from May to June.
“It must be nice for these elected officials and multi-millionaires to have the luxury to pay for the increased prices tariffs are causing, but they are killing working families,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “These Republicans should go touch some grass instead of kissing Trump’s ring to get a clear understanding of just how much pain they are causing through their support of these tariffs.”
See below for what elected Wisconsin Republicans have said about the tariffs and stories about rising prices:
Bill Berrien: “We’re very optimistic about the impact of the tariffs.”
Derrick Van Orden: “When it comes to how President Trump has handled tariffs, Van Orden said they have been a success…”
Scott Fitzgerald: “But when it comes to the tariffs, I think what we’re starting to see in the last couple of days is some big successes.”
