Democratic Party of Wisconsin Endorses “NO” Vote on Spring Ballot Questions 1 and 2

MADISON, Wis. — Today, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin announced it is endorsing a “NO” vote on both Question 1 and Question 2—the constitutional amendment on the April 2 ballot.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement:

“Seizing on Donald Trump’s lies about the 2020 election, Republican politicians in Madison are pushing a vaguely worded, bad-faith constitutional amendment to meddle in election administration and leave local governments with fewer resources to keep polling places open. Rather than work to make sure our clerks have the resources they need to run elections, Republicans are pushing a nonsense amendment to satisfy Donald Trump. We should expect nothing less from the party that spent millions on sham investigations of the 2020 election and, just last week, killed bipartisan legislation to streamline the processing of early and absentee ballots to help get election results out earlier on election night.

“Thanks to long-standing Wisconsin law and the dedicated service of thousands of elections officials in municipalities across the state, our elections are safe and secure. Donald Trump’s lies about his 2020 loss shouldn’t dictate what’s written in our state constitution, and for that reason, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin is encouraging voters to vote ‘NO’ on both Question 1 and Question 2 on the April 2 ballot.”
