WisDems, Gov. Evers Announce Unprecedented Wisconsin Governor Readiness Project

MADISON, Wis. — Today, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, in partnership with Governor Tony Evers, announced its new Wisconsin Governor Readiness Project. This new initiative is an unprecedented, aggressive investment that will ensure the eventual Democratic nominee for governor has the resources they need to win in November 2026. With Wisconsin’s late primary and one of the shortest general election timelines in the country, this program will be critical to building a foundation for the Democratic nominee and defeating whichever extreme Republican candidate emerges from their primary.

Upon announcing the program, Gov. Evers, WisDems Chair Devin Remiker, and Senior Advisor Cassi Fenili released the following statements:

Gov. Evers: “Since 2018, I’ve been proud to serve as Wisconsin’s governor and do the right thing to make our state better and stronger than ever before. In 2026, we need to protect the progress we’ve made by electing a Democrat who believes in supporting working families, strengthening public schools, and protecting our rights and freedoms. That’s why I’m partnering with WisDems to create the Wisconsin Governor Readiness Project. The campaign infrastructure that we will build over the next year will be vital to electing our next Democratic governor. The WisDems was a critical partner in my re-election campaign, and just like four years ago, I’m going to be fighting like hell alongside Chair Remiker to ensure that Wisconsin has a governor who will always stand up for the people of our state.”

Chair Remiker: “Our goal this election cycle is to deliver a Democratic trifecta that passes policies that deliver for working people and this starts with the Wisconsin Governor Readiness Project. We will give no quarter to the extremist Republican candidates attempting to do Donald Trump’s bidding and continue his war on the working class. I’m grateful for Governor Evers working with us on this unprecedented project to ensure we are more ready than ever before to win.”

Senior Advisor Fenili: “Working for Governor Evers since his primary in 2018, I know how challenging it is for a Democratic nominee to hit the ground running on day one of the general election. There’s too much on the line in 2026. That’s why we need campaign infrastructure and resources ready to go immediately — that’s what this project is going to accomplish. We know we can be successful because we’ve been here before, helping elect Gov. Tony Evers by building a runway early and holding the Republican candidates accountable often. We’re going to do it again, and we’re going to do it even better than before.”

The program will build upon and strengthen the state party’s campaign infrastructure that has secured Democratic victories in 10 of the last 13 statewide elections. This program will invest in robust messaging and communications programs, expand the party’s field operations to reach voters in communities across the state, and raise funds that will be available day one of the general election. In addition to supporting the eventual nominee, the program will also create a robust GOP accountability operation to define Republican candidates throughout the primary and through November.

WisDems Senior Advisor Cassi Fenili will lead this project. Fenili previously served as Governor Evers’ campaign manager in 2022 and deputy campaign manager in 2018. In addition to her work with the governor, she managed Justice Susan Crawford’s successful Supreme Court election earlier this year, and served as the executive director of the WisDems in 2024.
