As North Carolina Expands Medicaid, Wisconsin Continues To Be National Outlier

MADISON, Wis. — Today, North Carolina became the latest state to expand Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act, leaving Wisconsin one of just 10 remaining states not to have expanded this critical program and provide high-quality care to more families.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Joe Oslund issued the following statement:

“Extreme MAGA Republicans—including right here in Wisconsin—are hellbent on playing politics with our health care, and it’s making our communities sicker. Not only are they depriving nearly 90,000 Wisconsinites of high-quality BadgerCare coverage by refusing to expand Medicaid, but some are taking it even further by supporting Donald Trump as he threatens to repeal the Affordable Care Act and roll back the lifesaving progress that President Biden and Democrats have fought so hard for. The reality is, every single Republican presidential candidate is following Trump’s lead and threatening Americans’ health care.

“While Republicans continue to put the bottom line of health insurance companies over the health, safety, and pocketbooks of hardworking families, Democrats, in partnership with the Biden-Harris administration, are continuing to model true leadership in the fight to make health care more accessible and affordable for Wisconsin families.”
