MADISON, Wis. — In response to a new challenge of Wisconsin’s extreme partisan gerrymandering, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement:
“Today’s lawsuit challenging our state’s extreme partisan gerrymander is good news for democracy in Wisconsin. For more than a decade, Republican politicians in Madison have used their gerrymandered majority to insulate themselves from the people they purport to represent, and instead do the bidding of special interests and the wealthy. This April, Wisconsinites made clear by an overwhelming margin that it was time for a new direction on our court and in our state, voting for a new Supreme Court majority. The new Court will give a fair hearing to challenges such as the one filed today. In Wisconsin, democracy‘s comeback has begun.”
